If you want to move from being merely a member, important as you are, to getting really involved as a volunteer, or want to climb the next rung of the ladder as a volunteer then fill in the form below and find out more.
The Railway relies entirely on volunteers to run its operations……there are no paid staff. There are opportunities to involve yourself with all aspects of the Railway’s Operations.
Customer Services
There are jobs for all…..Train Stewards, Retail Shop assistants, Buffet Staff, Booking Office Staff…..no experience is necessary…..full training will be given.
Train Operations Staff
Station Master, Gatemen, Car parking Stewards…..full training will be given.
Carriage and Wagon
Help maintain our rolling stock to the high standards that we have achieved and help with the restoration of additional stock as we obtain it. You don’t have to be a craftsman……though these are always welcome….just a willing pair of hands.
Permanent Way
Over 3 miles of track to maintain there is varied work…..sleeper replacement, fish plate oiling etc. We run works trains on a regular basis taking you to the site and returning you after the work is completed.
Infrastructure
There are many varied jobs to be tackled including fence repairs, bridge work, and the forthcoming ‘Project Risborough ’ rebuilding the old bay platform. No experience is necessary, just a willing pair of hands.
Mechanical Engineering
If you are a frustrated engineer or ‘ would be ‘ engineer come and work on a variety of tasks from locomotives….Steam and Diesel to our Mobile Crane.
